Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the nature of the relationship between the level of legal understanding of football and the competencies of decision-making and tactical performance among football players, given the direct impact of these variables on the quality of individual and collective performance during competitions. A descriptive analytical method using a correlational approach was employed as the most appropriate for the study objectives. Scientifically validated tools were developed and applied to measure legal understanding, assess decision-making in simulated game situations, and evaluate tactical performance based on defined technical and tactical standards. The study sample included a group of youth players from official Iraqi clubs. Data were analyzed using a set of precise statistical techniques, including Pearson’s correlation coefficient, simple linear regression, and descriptive statistics. The results revealed that legal understanding did not show a statistically significant correlation with either decision-making or tactical performance, nor did it demonstrate sufficient explanatory power in the regression model. This indicates that theoretical legal knowledge alone is not sufficient to influence players’ behavior on the field unless it is integrated into tactical training contexts. The study recommends incorporating legal knowledge into training units and developing combined assessments that measure the interaction between legal awareness and tactical behavior.
