Scouting creativity and its relationship to organizational proficiency among scouting teams participating in advanced guide scouting camps

Abstract

This study aims to identify the nature of the relationship between scouting creativity and organizational proficiency among advanced guides participating in scouting camps, given the importance of these variables in achieving the educational and social objectives of the scouting movement and enhancing creative and organizational abilities. The research problem emerged from the researchers’ observation of fluctuations in the level of scouting creativity within some scout troops, particularly at the advanced guide stage, which represents a critical phase for acquiring knowledge, experience, and influencing scouting performance.
A descriptive survey and correlational approach was adopted. The research population consisted of 264 advanced guides distributed across 11 scout troops participating in scouting camps in the Babil Governorate Center during the 2024–2025 academic year, using a comprehensive enumeration method. Two scales—scouting creativity and organizational proficiency—were developed and applied. The results indicated that the advanced guides demonstrated a good level of scouting creativity and organizational proficiency, with a statistically significant positive correlation between the two variables. The study recommended applying the two scales to other educational stages and enhancing the role of educational institutions in supporting scouting activities and fostering scouting creativity.
